Current Volunteer Opportunities at Pets In Need:

Outreach Volunteer
Take the Pets In Need message out into the community. At our various outreach venues you will tell people about Pets In Need and the adoptable dogs and cats at Pets In Need. The main goal is to reach potential adopters and donors by explaining our commitment to rescuing dogs and cats. At certain events, we bring adoptable animals from the shelter and it is always exciting to see first hand how your time makes such a huge difference in helping find a new family for each of our animals – they are all just waiting for that right someone to find them!

Foster Parent
A wonderful opportunity to house orphaned animals until they are old enough to be adopted. This is a crucial element of our life saving work. Foster parents provide temporary homes for kittens and puppies until they are old enough to be spayed and neutered (8-12 ˝ wks old). The foster parents nurture young kittens and puppies and prepare them for a new life in a great new home. Pets In Need carefully trains you and you bring in the animals for health checks and vaccinations at the required times. The foster animals MUST be kept separate from your own animals. You teach them everything they need to know and give lots of hugs and play time so they are well adjusted and ready to live their lives as beloved companions.

Reports To: Foster Program Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator
Time Commitment: As needed per animal, usually 2- 8 weeks

MatchMaker
You find the right animals the right people. You are a love matchmaker! Matchmakers work directly with clients to determine which animal would be best suited for their home and lifestyle. This position involves knowledge of animals in the shelter, training, and extensive contact with the public including assisting with incoming calls and paperwork related to animal adoptions. This is done at the shelter and/or at outreach locations.

Reports to: Client Services Supervisor
Time Commitment: At least 3 shifts per month
