Pets In Need’s medical operation is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, a distinction given to fewer than 15% of veterinary clinics in the U.S. Our medical department, under the direction of Charlotte Rubin, DVM, has performed over 5,000 spay/neuter procedures at our shelter and on our mobile surgical van.

Surgery appointments are available most Tuesdays and Thursdays (occasionally Friday appointments are available). Space fills up fast! There is a $50 deposit per animal required to book your appointment. Rabies vaccination required for an extra $15 unless current proof of rabies vaccination is provided.
Drop off time is at 8am the day of the appointment and pickup time is 4pm the same day.

* Maximum weight for female dogs is 50 lbs
* Maximum weight for male dogs is 100 lbs
* Maximum age for dogs is 7 years old for small breeds; 6 years old for large breeds.
* Maximum age for cats is 7 years old
* Minimum age for cats and dogs is 12 weeks old
There is a $50 deposit per animal required when booking a spay/neuter appointment. The remaining balance must be paid when the animal is dropped off the day of surgery. The deposit will only be refunded if you call and cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours’ notice. If you fail to call and cancel/reschedule within 48 hours and you do not show up for your appointment, the deposit will not be refunded.
Pets In Need is offering the following medical services to our spay/neuter clients on the day of their scheduled surgery.
- DAPP vaccine (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus) = $15
- Bordetella vaccine (Kennel cough) = $15
- Rabies vaccine = $15
- FVRCP vaccine (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Pan leukopenia) = $15
- Rabies vaccine = $15
- FELV/FIV combo test (Feline leukemia/Immunodeficiency virus) = $30
Microchip = $25
If you would like to take advantage of any of these additional medical services when you bring your pet in, please inform the Pets In Need staff member at the time you schedule your pet’s spay/neuter appointment.
Adult dogs/cats (6 months or older)
- No food after 10:00 pm the night prior to surgery
- Water through the night is okay, but should be taken away by 6am the day of surgery
Kittens/Puppies (Under 6 months)
- No need to restrict food or water for kittens and puppies under 6 months
