Willow is a 10 year-old Dachschund we rescued from an overcrowded public shelter in Fresno. She had been badly neglected – an infection in her mouth rotted her teeth and created oronasal fistulas, or openings between her mouth and sinus passages. This infection is incredibly painful and is affecting her entire mouth. She needs full mouth extractions and lots of care to resolve her dental issues. Willow is such a sweet dog, you almost wouldn’t know the amount of pain she’s in by looking at her.

Willow is scheduled to have full mouth extractions by a local specialist on June 27. We are in need of donations to cover the cost of that procedure – which will cost between $2,200 and $2,900. We are also looking for a temporary foster home for Willow until she has her surgery (about two weeks).

You can help us give Willow the care she needs by sharing her story, helping us find a temporary foster home, or making a donation today.

*Note: any donations we receive over the amount needed for Willow’s care will be used for other animals with special medical needs.

Update 6/28/17

Thank you to all who supported Willow through your kind words and donations. She had her dental surgery yesterday and is now recovering with her foster family. Unfortunately, because Willow’s mouth had severely deteriorated from years of chronic infection, the procedure resulted in a broken jaw, a common result in dogs with this level of infection in the bone. She’ll need a follow up surgery in a few weeks to finish the extractions. Until her second surgery, Willow will be taking it easy in her foster home.
