bacon's story

The Bacon Memorial Fund was created to honor the memory of Bacon, a beloved dog that belonged to Dr. Heidi McClain and Dr. Diane Roberts, both veterinarians at SAGE Centers for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care in Redwood City. As a puppy, Bacon was left at the clinic with a severe case of parvo virus. After providing aggressive treatment and overseeing his recovery, Dr. McClain and Dr. Roberts took Bacon in and provided him with a forever home.

Over the years, Bacon became a cherished member of the SAGE team and happily greeted clients at the front desk of the clinic each day. His love and warmth radiated throughout the office, and brought a smile to every person he met. After battling osteosarcoma and undergoing chemotherapy for many months, Bacon passed peacefully on May 23rd, 2018 surrounded by his family.

This fund was created to keep Bacon’s memory alive and help hard-to-place animals find forever homes. Bacon’s wonderful spirit and constant outpouring of love will be remembered every time an animal finds a home through his fund. All money raised will go directly towards sponsoring the adoption fees of animals that need a little extra help getting adopted.
