In-shelter

Pets In Need offers owner-requested euthanasia to residents of East Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and Redwood City. This service is available at our Palo Alto shelter.

After you complete the request form, our medical team will review the information you provided and contact you for an appointment. We can only consider medically-based euthanasia requests.

Please note that we are not able to perform emergency euthanasia. Response time is 24-48 hours after you submit this form.

In home

Pets In Need’s euthanasia services are performed in our shelters. If you are interested in in-home pet hospice and euthanasia services in the Bay Area, we recommend looking into Restful Paws or Lap of Love.

Pet Loss Support

Losing a pet is like losing a member of our family. Experiencing feelings like grief, sadness, and depression are natural. Below are some options for support.

Disposal: $51 - $76
Communal Cremation: $55 - $85
Private Cremation**: $160 - $200

*Fees vary depending on the weight of the animal.
**Private cremation includes returning the ashes to the owner.
