Age: 5 Years
Gender: Male
Size: 65 lbs  (full grown)
Breed: Karelian Bear

Meet New Year, a Karelian Bear- possibly the only one of his kind you will ever meet! New Year was purchased from a breeder in Washington State when he was a puppy and was surrendered to our shelter by his owners when they made the decision to move their family back to China. New Year might have a slightly intimidating look, but inside he is just a big softie. When our staff takes him out in the yard to run around, he likes to lay down on or next to them for belly rubs and lots of pets. His best friend at the shelter is a GSD mix named Arya. The two of them LOVE to play together! They just can't get enough. Arya is a puppy and tends to jump all over New Year, but he's very tolerant of her antics. New Year has a coat like a Husky, so he will blow his coat twice a year. He is a great option for someone looking for a hiking buddy or for a playmate for their other dog, provided that dog is a good size match for him. Want to meet a real live Bear? Come on down and say hello to New Year!
