PIN Teams Up with Animal Shelters Across the Country to Win Big in Football Fundraising Challenge

Are you ready for a tail-wagging challenge?  This year, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs are not just battling it out on the field; their local animal shelters have joined together to host the first-ever Super TAILgate Challenge, a furry-friendly fundraising competition to see which team has the most compassionate animal-loving fans.

Pets In Need is currently spearheading a national fundraising challenge in honor of the San Francisco 49ers' participation in Super Bowl LVIII. This unique initiative, fittingly named the "Super TAILgate" challenge, brings together no-kill animal shelters from across the country to raise funds for their local communities. As the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs get ready to duke it out on the field this Sunday, PIN faces other esteemed shelters such as Great Plains SPCA, Baltimore Humane Society, and Michigan Humane, all vying to demonstrate the generosity and compassion of their respective communities. Staff and volunteers at both shelters are rooting for their teams, and they need your support!

“We are so proud to compete in this fundraiser with fellow animal shelters across the nation,” says Ali Kagawa, Pets In Need’s Director of Development and Communications. “The competition is strong, but the 49er Faithful are stronger! We know our Niners Nation will pull through as the most giving fans. And best of all, when you donate to the Super TAILgate Challenge, the real winners are the animals we serve.”

Collectively the participating shelters have raised over $63,000 so far. Pets in Need has set a goal to raise $10,000 for animals in our community. With the support of the 49er Faithful, we know we can meet our goal by game day. Vote online by Sunday, February 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Prove your team has what it takes to go all the way! Whoever you’re rooting for, every dollar donated helps save more animals in your community.
