PIN Alums And Fosters Share Their #ShelteredAtHome Stories

In an effort to connect with the Pets In Need community during the shelter-in-place order, we asked our adopters and fosters how they and their pets are faring under the unique circumstances. So far, over 80 of our adopters and fosters responded with updates, photos, and videos! Below are just a few of the wonderful, funny, and heart-warming stories that we received.

If you would like to send your story to us, email shelteredathome@petsinneed.org. Your story may be featured on our social media accounts and you will be entered in a giveaway for one of three $25 pet store gift cards! Winners will be announced on May 4.

Dallas

Mac, formerly Dallas, is enjoying all the extra love while being #ShelteredInPlace with his adoptive family. Mac’s days now consist of hour-long walks and lots of cuddles with his two and four-legged siblings.

Sadie and Gracie

sadie and gracie.jpg

PIN alum Sadie has been best buds with her feline sister, Gracie, ever since they first met. For them, being #ShelteredAtHome just means more time for playing and lounging with their favorite humans! While Gracie has always emulated many dog-like behaviors, her family recently discovered a new one: she loves a good game of fetch! All this extra playtime means that everyone is spending more energy and sleeping very well. Sadie and Gracie’s family is very grateful for the joy their animals bring to them, especially during these different times.

Kringle

Kringle and his family have this whole #ShelteredAtHome thing down! They are prepared with plenty of chew toys and have adjusted their routine accordingly. Every morning, Kringle enjoys a long visit to the park where he can chase tennis balls, find tree branches to carry, and discover muddy holes to dig in. Then the rest of his day is spent napping on the couch and playing with toys. That sounds like a great time to us!

Calvin

The kitty you see here is known as Calvin. Recently, he also became known as a little Chapstick thief. It wasn’t until this #ShelteredAtHome period that his human learned that she wasn’t actually losing her Chapstick, but rather this little dude was taking and hoarding them! Calvin’s human recovered them all and is now the proud owner of 15 Chapsticks.

Pigglet

Pigglet is had the time of her life while being #ShelteredAtHome with her former foster family. During her time with them, she tried on some new stylish looks, gone on plenty of hikes, and completed an extensive search for the most comfortable seat in the house (see bottom right photo). We’re thrilled to say that Pigglet found her forever home soon after the shelter-in-place period began.

Glenda

Glenda is a-okay with being #ShelteredAtHome with her foster family! Since moving into her new digs, she has been happily exploring the backyard and working on her tan under the sun. Glenda warmed up quickly to her foster family and is loving couch time as well as peaceful walks on local trails.

Adia

On Dunya’s seventh birthday, she received the best present she could ask for: a loving cat named Aida. Two years later, Dunya is not only celebrating her ninth birthday, but also Aida’s two-year gotcha day. Aida has become a great source of joy in their family, especially while being #ShelteredAtHome.

Tot

Untitled design (5).jpg

Since being adopted in July 2019, Tot has settled in quite well with her forever family. She is spending her #ShelteredAtHome days accompanying her humans as they work from home. We aren’t sure how they are getting any work done with that cute face looking at them all day!

Toby

PIN alum Toby looooves going for walks on his harness. Now that his family is #ShelteredAtHome, Toby is sure to remind them that he still needs his outside time. Sometimes his hints are subtle, and other times, he takes matters into his own paws.

Misty and Dawn

PIN alum Misty and her canine companion, Dawn, have been hitting it off since Misty was adopted last November. These two best buds do everything together, including napping! Though of different species, Misty and Dawn are two peas in a pod.

Sichuan

PIN alum Sichuan (formerly Danny) has brought so much joy to his family while being sheltered at home. Although he has interrupted a few virtual meetings, Sichuan's shenanigans have made it all the more enjoyable. Everyone is definitely loving the extra cuddle and playtime!
