About Dobby

Estimated age: 1 year
Gender: Female
Size: 13 lbs.
Location: Foster

Here’s what her foster parent had to say as of 01/11/24:

Dobby is sweet, smart, curious and shy.  She came to Pets In Need as a teen mom with 3 newborn pups.  Like all moms, her first several weeks in care were devoted to her babies’ well being.  Now that they’re launched, Dobby is ready to have a forever family of her own.

Dobby is happiest being somewhere near her people and canine friends, and a dog bed in each room isn’t too many.  Resting on the couch is nice too!  When Dobby is happy, she’s expressive from end to end: ears, up and alert; tail twirling like a helicopter blade.  But she makes her own judgments and needs time to warm up.  She can be intimidated by the “giantness” of humans, so she does best when she’s allowed to unfold and fall in love at her own pace.

Even though she’s a puppy herself, Dobby is moving beyond the hard-to-live-with stage.  She’s mostly housetrained and chews on her bones, not the furniture.  But confident leash walking is a big challenge for Dobby, and “slow and steady” is her world view.  She needs to trust first, then cooperate.  She may eventually enjoy walks to a coffee shop, but not yet!

Because of her shyness, Dobby’s ideal home would be on the quiet side.  She’s not experienced with young children, so she would likely do best with kids over 6.  She likes other dogs – especially dogs her own size -- and would enjoy a confident, social canine companion.
